Five Juveniles Charged After Lewiston Assault Video Circulates

Lewiston police say five juveniles are facing charges after a video circulating on social media showed a group attacking another person.

According to WGME 13, officers first became aware of the incident earlier this week when the video began spreading online. Investigators reviewed the footage and worked to identify those involved, eventually determining that multiple juveniles had taken part in the assault.

With assistance from the district attorney’s office, police were able to locate and arrest five minors in connection with the case. Authorities say each of them has been charged with aggravated assault.

All five were taken to Long Creek Youth Development Center following their arrests.

Police have not released additional details about the victim or the circumstances surrounding the incident, and because those charged are juveniles, their identities have not been made public. WGME reported that the investigation remains ongoing.
