Fundraiser For Rob Burnell Tonight @ Lisa’s Restaurant in Augusta, Maine
If you haven't heard by now, popular Maine musician Rob Burnell was involved in a serious motorcycle crash.
Rob, whose own father passed away in a tragic motorcycle accident several years ago, was heading home from the town of Orland when a deer jumped out in front of him a little past 7 p.m.
Rob hit the deer and fell from his motorcycle. Following the crash, passersby called for help, and Rob was swiftly taken to the Waldo County Hospital where he was stabilized and flown by helicopter to the trauma unit at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor.
After being intubated and in an induced coma for more than 24 hours, Rob was able to wake up and be extubated.
An absolute miracle. It was determined that though he suffered a gnarly wound to his head and a substantial road rash, there was no long-term neuro impairment.
On September 5, Rob was released from the hospital and returned to his new home with his fiancé, Ashley, and their two precious babies.
As you might imagine, it has been a harrowing and expensive journey for the Burnell family as they navigate the long road to recovery. Fortunately, a local business owner has stepped up to help.
Lisa Wardwell, from Lisa's Restaurant, has long been known for her 'Lisa's Love For Locals' campaign where she hosts fundraisers at her eatery for local folks in need. This coming Wednesday, October 9th, Lisa is hosting a fundraiser for Rob and his family.
There will be a live band, silent and live auction, free apps and of course a chance for mingling with some of your favorite locals. The event runs Wednesday from 5-7p at Lisa's Restaurant, Bangor Street in Augusta.
