If you thought L.L.Bean in Freeport was just a place to shop for boots, jackets, and outdoor gear, think again. You can now get an underwater view of live trout without ever leaving the store. Yes, seriously!

Maine's iconic L.L.Bean flagship store recently reopened following a massive $50 million renovation, and honestly, the new indoor trout pond might be one of the coolest additions.

An Indoor Trout Pond You Can Actually Explore

We're not talking about your average fish tank here.

The newly redesigned store features a two-tiered trout pond holding approximately 15,000 gallons of water. That's twice the size of the previous pond!

There's also an expanded 6,000-gallon stream tank with special underwater viewing bubbles where visitors can get an up-close look at the fish swimming around them.

I feel like this is something kids would absolutely love, but let's be honest, I'd probably be just as excited.

More Than Just Shopping

The renovation also includes a redesigned café, a new customization shop, an expanded children's department, and additional outdoor gathering space.

What I love about this is that L.L.Bean has turned an ordinary shopping trip into an actual Maine experience.

You could spend an afternoon exploring Freeport, grab something to eat, check out the fish, and maybe even do a little shopping.

And the best part? The flagship store is back to being open 24 hours a day!
