It’s another sure sign that summer is just about here in Maine: paid parking is back in Old Orchard Beach.

According to WGME, seasonal paid parking begins Friday, May 22, in Old Orchard Beach, meaning drivers heading to one of Maine’s most popular beach towns will want to plan ahead before rolling into town.

The seasonal parking program applies to designated paid parking areas around Old Orchard Beach and will remain in effect through September 7.

Visitors can pay for parking through the Passport Parking app or by using parking kiosks located around town. Seasonal parking passes are also available for those who plan to visit frequently throughout the summer. Those passes can be purchased online or in person through the Old Orchard Beach Town Clerk’s Office.

Old Orchard Beach is one of Maine’s busiest summer destinations, drawing huge crowds for the beach, the pier, Palace Playland, restaurants, shops and classic boardwalk food. With warmer weather moving in and Memorial Day weekend marking the unofficial start of summer, town officials are preparing for the annual increase in visitors.

So, whether you’re heading down for a beach day, a family trip to the arcade, a walk along the pier, or just an excuse to crush fries and fried dough like it’s your full-time job, don’t forget about parking.

Summer in Old Orchard Beach is basically here, and so is the seasonal parking bill.
