When it comes to buying tickets to major events in the US, one thing we always have to be aware of is potential scams.

And now, one of those scams is affecting patrons of the popular Gardens Aglow attraction at the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens.

According to an article published by WGME 13, third-party ticket resellers have been unloading fake tickets to the public and charging for them.

The fake tickets appear to be coming from an array of online ticketing resellers.

Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens said they have seen an increase of visitors to the park attempting to get in with tickets they purchased through third-party vendors.

The only problem? These tickets aren't real and are not valid for entry.

Staff with the Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is reminding residents and tourists alike that if you're looking to attend this year's magical event, you should only purchase your tickets through their official website to avoid a possible scam situation.

In addition to many of these third-party tickets being invalid, they are often sold at prices higher than what Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens charges, WGME reported.

CMBG said in part on a recent Facebook post,

We see many scam ticket sales around the holidays. We do not authorize the resale of Gardens Aglow tickets and cannot guarantee that the ones you are getting are real unless purchased directly from Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens or are from an authorized Gardens' Affiliate (typically local inns, hotels, or other businesses). Tickets purchased online through social media or other resellers are often not real, and are not authorized through the Gardens.
