8 Injured After Car Crashes Into Maine Home, Alcohol Believed to be Involved
Eight people, most of them teenagers, were inside a car that crashed into a home in St. George early Saturday morning, and investigators believe speed, alcohol, and drug use may have played a role.
According to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, the crash happened around 12:05 a.m. at the intersection of Spruce Head Road and Village Road. Deputies say the sedan failed to navigate a sharp turn before leaving the roadway and striking a house.
WABI went on to report that authorities say the vehicle was driven by 20-year-old Eliza Luce of Union. She suffered serious injuries and was taken to the hospital.
Two passengers, 18-year-old Aiden Stalcup of South Thomaston and 18-year-old Brooklyn Hart of Belgrade, were also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Three additional minors were taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries as well, the news station reported.
Another minor was transported by helicopter to a trauma center with life-threatening injuries.
Officials say 19-year-old Michael Sabins of Liberty suffered minor injuries and did not require hospitalization.
The crash remains under investigation.
