When it comes to candy, people in Maine seem to like keeping things simple. According to Coventry Direct, Original M&M’s are the most popular M&M flavor in Maine. The study looked at Google search interest for 45 different M&M varieties from May 2025 to May 2026 to figure out which flavor was the most popular in each state.

Sticking With a Classic

I think it is interesting that Maine chose Original M&M’s because there are so many different flavors available now. There are choices like caramel, peanut butter, dark chocolate, crispy, and even caramel cold brew. Even with all those options, people in Maine still showed the most interest in the original chocolate M&M’s. Maine also was not alone in choosing the classic flavor. Original M&M’s were the top choice in 11 states, making them the second most popular variety in the country.

How Maine Compares

Maine’s choice is different from the overall favorite in the United States. Caramel M&M’s ranked first nationally, leading in 12 states, while Original M&M’s came in right behind them. Peanut M&M’s were another popular choice, ranking first in six states.

Overall, Maine’s favorite shows that newer flavors do not always beat the classics. Original M&M’s have been around for generations, and Maine’s search results show that people are still interested in the simple chocolate candy that made M&M’s popular in the first place.
