First off, I do have to say I love when authoritative departments like the police department or this fire department can do their job well but can also have a little fun with the public.

Levant, Maine's Fire & Rescue squad put out a PSA to the dude or dudette who ran over their safety cones and left them for dead (the cones, not the people):

Check it out in this Facebook post below:

Here's what they had to say:

"We want to throw a huge shoutout to the wonderful driver on Union Street in Levant that couldn't take time to watch where you were driving to avoid cones placed for a safety reason.

Luckily it is a cone, it has no feelings, can't share how horrible you are at driving-much like a human could. We guess the positive piece-today you destroyed our property that we can replace....not a human that can't be.
If you hit them by accident, come see Chief Strout we can discuss your inabilty to avoid cones!"

How do you feel about this post?

Personally, I think it's a breath of fresh air from the world being so serious and negative all the time ever since COVID, so Levant Fire Department; you guys have my vote!

There's something to be said about the right amount of humor while also delivering a message that the cones you see on the road are placed there for serious reasons, not just for fun.

I never thought I'd see the day when I'd be writing a post about cone safety, but here we are.

I also never thought I'd see the day when I'd stalk their Instagram to see what else they do over there when I found this:

Not only are these guys funny, but they've got big hearts too... more respect!

They go out of their way to post helpful tips to the public if you find yourself in an emergency before they can get to you.

And bottom line, they want to make sure everyone is safe. Way to go Levant Fire & Rescue!
