Not to make light of the allegations, but this sounds like something that would have happened on an 80s detective or cop show.

Earlier this week, a fugitive from Maine was found hiding out on a sailboat on the coast of Massachusetts.

According to TV station WWLP, 52 year old Eric Waite was found hiding out on a sailboat that was off Pope's Island.  The island sits at the mouth of the Acushnet River, between the cities of New Bedford and Fairhaven.

On Tuesday, April 26th, members of the Massachusetts State Police Violent Fugitive Apprehension Section (VFAS), members of a U.S. Marshals Task Force, and New Bedford Police boarded two boats and made their way to the sailboat.  When they boarded the sailboat, Waite initially gave them a fake name before admitting he was the wanted man.  The TV station reports that, following his arrest, Waite was booked at the Massachusetts State Police barracks at Dartmouth.

According to a June 24th, 2020 story in the Village Soup, Waite was arrested in June 23rd, 2020 for allegedly stalking and assaulting a woman.  The Camden man allegedly threatened to kill a woman and her family.  Waite and the woman had previously had a relationship.

There is no word on who owns the sailboat or when Waite will be in court.
