Maine High School Student Dragged For Half a Mile Down The Road Behind Classmate’s Car

A Maine high school student was dragged for more than half a mile behind a car on Monday afternoon.

WGME 13 reported that a high school student from South Portland was being dropped off at his home after school by another student before the incident occured.

After the boy got out of the car, the news station reported, the female classmate drove away, not realizing at the time that the boy's hand was still stuck in the car door.

The boy was dragged by the car for about half a mile from Scamman Street down to Stillman Street in South Portland, WGME stated.

WGME said that the boy was not run over, just dragged, but still needed to be taken to Maine Medical Center for injuries that were not considered life-threatening.

Currently, the boy's identity, nor the identity of the female driver, have not been released.

Police said that the incident remains under investigation, though it does not appear as if any charges are forthcoming as it seems to be a very unfortunate accident.
