Another Hot Day Monday Before Cooler, Less Humid Weather Arrives in Maine

Another hot and somewhat humid day is expected across Maine Monday, with temperatures climbing into the 80s and heat index values approaching 90 degrees in some inland areas.

According to WGME, skies will be partly sunny, although wildfire smoke drifting across Maine and New Hampshire could create some hazy conditions during the afternoon. Some of the smoke may become fairly thick at times, but no major air quality impacts are expected. Much of the thicker smoke should shift south toward southern New England by Tuesday.

Most of Maine will stay dry Monday, but an isolated afternoon shower or thunderstorm will be possible across inland and mountainous areas.

Humidity will gradually become less noticeable as dew points fall through the first half of the work week. Tuesday and Wednesday should both feel less humid than the weather Maine experienced late last week and over the weekend.

The next better chance for widespread showers and thunderstorms arrives late Wednesday into Thursday as a cold front approaches. Storms could begin developing along the coastal plain by the middle to late afternoon Wednesday before rain chances increase elsewhere, the news station said.

High temperatures will remain in the 80s through Thursday before cooler air arrives.

Friday through Sunday currently look sunny and refreshing, with highs dropping into the 70s for much of the weekend.
