Get ready, Central Maine! The Kennebec Valley Chamber of Commerce is super-thrilled to welcome IRONMAN 70.3 Maine back to Augusta for its fourth year! This ultra-endurance triathlon brings thousands of athletes and spectators from all over the globe to swim the Kennebec River, bike the rolling hills of the Kennebec Valley, and run the streets and trails of Central Maine.

Whether you're competing, cheering from the sidelines, or stepping up to volunteer, it’s an unforgettable weekend and the Kennebec Valley Chamber is at the heart of the celebration.

The welcome party is sure to be a wicked-hoot!

To kick things off, the KV Chamber is partnering with IRONMAN to host an epic Welcome Party on Front Street in downtown Augusta. There’ll be live music, food trucks, drinks, and even fireworks over the river. It’s the ultimate summer block party and everyone’s invited!  That event will take place on Friday, July 25th.

Local businesses can get in on the action too. Event sponsors have the chance to set up a table or tent at the Welcome Party, meeting athletes, volunteers, and spectators, many of whom stick around for the week and are looking for great places to eat, shop, and explore. It's a perfect opportunity to show off what the Kennebec Valley has to offer.

What kind of volunteering jobs are there?

Of course, none of this would be possible without the incredible support of the community. The event needs around 900 volunteers to help everything run smoothly. There’s a role for everyone, whether it's handing out water at aid stations, kayaking along the swim course or assisting with security.

And here’s something even cooler: The IRONMAN Foundation offers grants to nonprofits, school groups, and sports teams who bring a crew of volunteers. You don’t need to be a 501(c)(3) to qualify, just be supporting a charitable cause.

If you're available on Sunday, July 27th, the KV Chamber wants to hear from you. Reach out to the Kennebec Valley Chamber at info@kennebecvalleychamber.com or call (207) 623-4559.
