Maine Man Accused of Sex Crimes Against Minors Arrested Again For Attempting to Contact Victims
A Maine man who has a long list of convictions involving sex crimes has been arrested yet again.
According to WGME 13, Christopher C.Cates, 48, is already a registered sex offender in the state of Maine. Cates has quite the history of legal woes involving sex crimes against minors, the news station reports.
Cates, who already has seven prior convictions for over the last decade for things including indecent conduct, unlawful sexual contact and prohibited contact with a child less than 14 was arrested again last Monday in the town of Bingham, Maine.
WGME reports that the arrest happened last Monday and deputies charged Cates with unlawful sexual contact, visual sexual aggression of a child, unlawful sexual touching, and indecent conduct, WGME stated.
Following the arrest last Monday, Cates was arrested yet again this past Friday. It was determined by officials that were investigating Monday's case that Cates had been reaching out to, and making contact with, victims of the previous allegations.
Police told the news station that contacting the victims is considered to be tampering with the victims and witnesses and is in fact a violation of Cates' conditions of release. Cates had previously been released on $25,000 cash bail though is now being held without bail at the Somerset County Jail.
This is a developing story and we will continue to keep it updated as more information becomes available to us.
