Maine Man, Infant Son, Seriously Injured in Sunday Afternoon Crash
According to a press release from the Maine Department of Public Safety, a 26-year-old Maine man and his 5-month-old infant son, were both seriously injured in a Sunday afternoon crash in New Sharon, Maine.
Reports indicate that a Maine State Trooper noticed a 1999 Subaru Legacy that was driving aggressively, speeding and passing other drivers recklessly. The Subaru was headed east on Route 2 when the trooper spotted it, according to the report.
By the time the trooper was able to turn around and head after the Subaru, the driver had hit a snowdrift, a utility pole and several trees. Following the series of impacts the vehicle came to rest on its roof, the Department of Safety indicated.
The trooper, along with a good Samaritan that stopped to assist, began life saving aid on the two as they waited for rescue to arrive.
The driver, 26-year-old Nicholas Walker of New Vineyard, was transported to Franklin Memorial Hospital, and his 5-month-old son was taken via LifeFlight to Maine Medical Center, both with serious injuries.
Shannon Moss, Spokeswoman for Maine Public Safety, said the responding agencies included Maine Warden Service, Franklin County Sheriff’s Deputies, New Sharon Fire Department, Maine Department of Transportation, Central Maine Power, Lifeflight of Maine, and NorthStar Ambulance Service all assisted the Maine State Police.
