A Maine man is dead and a woman is uninjured following a car vs pedestrian crash that happened in Hancock County on Wednesday morning.

WGME is reporting that the Maine man was walking 'in the road' on Route 1 on Wednesday morning at about 6:15.

As he was walking, the 67-year-old man was struck by a Chevrolet S10 pickup truck driven by a 57-year-old woman from Lamoine, Maine.

WGME said that the 67-year-old, Edwin Rowe, of Hancock, died at the scene of the crash. Emergency officials say that Rowe was wearing dark-colored clothing at the time of the crash. Additionally, there were no street lights near where the crash happened, causing the roadway, and objects around it, to be quite dark.

The 57-year-old Lamoine woman was not injured in the crash. Police are saying that they believe weather and visibility were primary factors in this morning's fatal crash.

This is a developing story and we will continue to keep it updated as more information becomes available to us.

Our thoughts go out to the friends and family of the deceased.
