At first we weren't really certain if this big storm was going to hit New England, however the path has become crystal clear over the last 24 hours and it's going to be a direct hit for the holiday.

WGME goes on to explain that, for some of us on the coast and about 30 miles inland, it is likely to start as all rain as areas further west quickly develop into periods of heavy snowfall. As the snow begins to intensify, as do the accumulation totals.

The storm will hammer pretty much all of New England during the day on Thursday before beginning to make its way out later in the night on Thursday into Friday, making way for breezy, but clearer, conditions.

Snowfall totals will range from a dusting to an inch at the immediate coastline to a 'jackpot' amount of 5-10 through the western Maine foothills and mountains- great for the ski slopes!

So if you have to travel on Thanksgiving day, make sure you build a little extra time into your plans to account for the impending slippery travel conditions as New England road crews will be working overtime to keep the roadways clear and safe for everyone during the holiday.
