In an early-season crash, a Maine motorcyclist was killed Monday after being struck from behind by another motorist.

According to an article by WGME 13, the crash happened in the vicinity of 474 Turner Street in Canton, Maine on Monday.

The motorcyclist, who was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, was pronounced dead.

At this time, the identity of the rider has not yet been released as officials are still investigating the crash and working on notifying next-of-kin.

This is a developing story that we will keep updated as more information becomes available to us.

As a reminder, with longer days and warming temperatures, drivers should expect to see more and more motorcycles taking to the roadways. As a rider myself, please do your best to drive distraction-free and never follow a motorcycle too closely. And always look twice.

Our thoughts go out to the rider's family and friends during this incredibly difficult time.
