If you love oysters, how does sampling your way through Maine’s oyster farms without driving all over the coast sound? Because that’s exactly the kind of afternoon coming to Portland this weekend.

Maine OysterFest is happening Saturday, October 17, at Maine Studio Works, bringing together more than 30 farms and over 60 farmers. The best part? The people growing the oysters will be right there shucking them for you. Talk about knowing where your food comes from!

Meet the Farmers Behind Your Favorite Bite

Part of Harvest on the Harbor, this event gives oyster lovers a chance to taste different Maine oysters and chat with the farmers themselves. You can ask about their farms, learn about what you’re eating, and maybe discover a new favorite along the way.

I feel like this is such a fun date idea or an excuse to grab your oyster-loving friend and make an afternoon of it. A little tasting, a little learning, and plenty of opportunities to say, “Okay, this one is my favorite.”

What to Know Before You Go

There are two sessions: 1:30–3 p.m. and 3–4:30 p.m. Tickets are listed at $97.85, including fees, and come with 18 oysters plus drinks. The event is for ages 21 and older, so bring your ID.

Maine Studio Works is located at 170 Anderson Street in Portland. Tickets are available through Harvest on the Harbor.
