Maine Senate Candidate Takes Unusual Approach In Dealing With Internet Trolls
Most people, when they are the subject of Internet trolling, do everything they can to make it go away as fast as possible.
Eric Brakey,a Republican U.S. Senate candidate running against Sen. Angus King this November, has done the opposite, his campaign has sent out a press release calling attention to it, and the release included a link to the video that the Brakey campaign said was posted to a troll site, www.ericbrakeyforsenate.com. Brakey's actual campaign site is ericbrakey.com.
Brakey has served in the Maine State Sentate, representing Auburn, New Gloucester, Poland, Minot, and Mechanic Falls since 2014.
In the release, Brakey said the video came from professional commercial shot for Vita Coco Coconut Water that he shot when he worked as a professional actor before being elected to office. “I’m a real human being, not a career politician, and I worked professionally in theatre and film for years before I ever imagined running for office,” said Brakey.
Brakey is not the first actor to run for a prominent political office. Ronald Regan, best known as 'The Gipper' from a movie role, was elected president, Saturday Night Live's Al Franken was elected to the U.S. Senate. Arnold Schwarzenegger served as governor of California and the legendary Jesse 'The Body' Ventura was the governor of Minnesota.
Let's take a look at some of their acting highlights, shall we?
