We often tell you about cool things happening in the skies over Maine. Usually it involves some annual meteor shower, an eclipse or even the northern lights. However, tomorrow's 'celestial event' is actually going to be pretty unique.

Hopefully the overnight skies will cooperate in what will be a fascinating 'smile in the sky' over the Pine Tree State in the early morning hours of Friday. According to an article from WGME 13, the 'smile' should be most visible at about 5:43am on Friday morning.

What will cause this 'smile in the sky'?

The news station is reporting that the positions of both Venus and Saturn, as well as the 'smile' of the perfectly positioned half-moon, will provide a visual of a 'smile' in the night, errr morning, sky.

WGME goes on to explain that you'll have about a 30-40 minute window of time to get outside and get a glimpse of the planetary smile. But, will the weather cooperate. Let's take a quick look at the hourly and see what it says, shall we?

Taking a gander at my weather app on the trust i-Phone, it looks like at about 5am on Friday morning in Augusta we can expect partly cloudy skies. This means we may or may not get a good view depending on where in the sky those 'partly' clouds are.

My advice? Set an alarm and go out and check. You'll want to look towards the eastern sky and away from where trees may obstruct your view. And, I know this should go without saying, but if the sun is coming up, don't look directly at it, okay?
