Maine Teen Dies After Getting Trapped in a Hole He Was Digging in Beach Sand
According to News Center Maine, a Maine teenager was killed and his sister injured following the collapse of a sand pit they were digging at the beach.
Officials report that they were called to the beach entrance on Seaview Road on the Jersey Shore. The beach is in a community called Toms River.
Police say when they arrived at the scene the two teenagers had become trapped in the sand pit after it had collapsed around them.
Police were able to rescue the victim's sister, who was also trapped, and treat her at the scene. Sadly, 18-year-old Levy Caverley of Maine, died at the scene.
News Center Maine reports that the family was vacationing on the Jersey Shore from Maine.
