A Maine teenager is in custody following an incident that occurred on Monday afternoon that prompted a large police response.
According to an article published by WGME 13, the shooting took place on Monday afternoon at about 4pm in the town of Carmel, Maine.
Police responded to a 911 call about a man that had been shot on Maine road. Police say that reports indicated a teenage boy at the residence shot hit father in the abdomen.
WGME says that when police arrived on the scene, they found the man with a single gunshot wound. The man was then taken by ambulance to an area hospital where he's currently listed in stable condition.
The Penobscot County Sheriff's Office told reporters in part,
“This dangerous incident and investigation continues to reveal the ongoing challenges with our current juvenile criminal justice process, statues, and mental health system,”
The Sheriff's office was able to retrieve the gun and take the boy into custody without incident. At this time, officials were not yet certain on where the teen would be placed while the investigation continues.
This is an ongoing story that we will keep updated as more information becomes available.
