A Maine man is in custody following an incident that unfolded in Lewiston over the weekend, according to WGME 13.

The news station goes on to report that on Sunday night, just before 12am, police responded to reports of a man having been shot on Ash Street outside of The Cage (a local bar).

WGME says that when police arrived on the scene, they discovered a 29-year-old male victim that had suffered an apparent gunshot wound to his leg. Police say they called for rescue and the gunshot victim was promptly transported to Central Maine Medical Center, also in Lewiston.

Police immediately began investigating the shooting which led them to arrest Nathan Breton, 28 of Greene, Maine. He was taken into custody and subsequently charged with elevated aggravated assault and reckless conduct.

WGME explains that the alleged shooter and gunshot victim got into some kind of argument inside the Lewiston bar. Eventually, that argument moved outside near the street when Breton allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot the victim in the leg.

The victim's injuries are reported as non-life-threatening and the suspect's bail has been set at $1,000 cash. This is a developing story that we will keep updated as more information becomes available to us.
