If you’ve ever thought about getting on the ice or have a kid who’s been curious about hockey, this is your chance.

A “Try Hockey for Free” event is happening on Saturday, April 25 at 10:40 a.m. at the Thomas College Ice Vault in Hallowell. The event is open to all ages, making it a great opportunity for beginners to experience the sport in a fun, low-pressure environment.

The event is being supported by several organizations, including USA Hockey, the Maine Moose Hockey program, the Skating Association of Maine, and the SAM Jr. Terriers.

Participants are encouraged to bring any hockey equipment they already have, but don’t worry if you’re starting from scratch, some equipment will be available on-site.

The goal of the event is simple: introduce people to hockey, help them learn the basics, and most importantly, have fun on the ice.

The Ice Vault is located at 203 Whitten Road in Hallowell, and organizers say no prior experience is needed.

For more information, you can email samhockeyvicechair@gmail.com or find the group on Facebook by searching SAM Jr. Terriers.

Whether you're looking to try something new or get your kids involved in a team sport, this could be the perfect way to get started.
