Maine Wedding Reception Takes Dark Turn After Man Stabbed in Chest
A wedding reception in Raymond, Maine, took a terrifying turn over the weekend after police say a man was stabbed in the chest during the celebration.
According to the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were called to the scene Saturday night at around 7 p.m. after a 26-year-old man was found suffering from a stab wound to his chest.
Investigators say the stabbing happened during a wedding reception and described the attack as unprovoked. What started as a night meant for celebrating quickly turned into a serious emergency as first responders arrived to help the injured man, WGME reported.
Officials say the victim suffered serious injuries, but he is expected to survive.
Police have identified the suspect as 26-year-old Andrew Manderson. Deputies say Manderson was taken into custody without further incident.
The sheriff’s office also says there is no ongoing threat to the public.
Details about what may have led up to the stabbing have not been released, and officials have not shared the relationship, if any, between the suspect and the victim.
The incident remains under investigation by the Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office.
