MaineGeneral: Please Take Care of My Boobie…
....NO I am not talking about Jon James! (I had to say it) Really, I know nothing is perfect, but MaineGeneral sure seems to be trying to hit that mark. I woke up Thursday morning with a lot of pain, redness and swelling and a change in how 'it' felt. I need some help.
‘It’ ,in this case, is my right breast. I may not always be the smartest person in the world, but clearly I needed a medical type. After not being able to get into see my primary care provider, I was off to check MaineGeneral Express Care. In a word, WOW.
I was in and out in 45 minutes. That includes the nurse practitioner getting a consult from the hospital AND an appointment with radiology so they could do an ultrasound. So...it took like five minutes to get from Express Care to Alfond Center for Health. I walked right into the imaging department for women’s care. They did the ultra sound, and then, I hung out for five minutes and the radiologist took a look and said things looked normal. Both services and travel in between the two, less than 90 minutes. Then in the time it took me to drive across Augusta to CVS on Capital Street my prescription was ready and waiting. I return to the car the find the nurse practitioner from Express Care is leaving me a message about a follow up appointment on Tuesday. AND both the nurse practitioner and the radiology technician were so supportive and pro-active on making sure I knew and understood what should do it anything changes over the weekend. I mean really…how cool is that?
Next week I have a follow up with a specialist Tuesday about what is going on with my body. I just have to say, thanks MaineGeneral, thank you very much!
