According to the Kennebec Journal, Maine's largest healthcare provider is preparing to fire any and all employees who refuse to comply with Governor Janet Mills' vaccine mandate. Additionally, Maine's Northern Light Health echoed these plans on the heels of the MaineHealth announcement.

Earlier this month, Maine's democratic governor announced that all Maine healthcare workers must comply with a vaccine mandate in order to maintain their employment. When pressed by reporters about those staff leaving to find another healthcare job in Maine, she said she made the mandate statewide so that those workers cannot find work in the state of Maine.

Since the announcement of the mandate, large groups of protestors have been gathering at locations around the state, including the capital, to protest the mandate. The Mills' vaccine mandate requires all hospital, nursing home, dentist office, EMS and other types of healthcare workers to receive the full COVID vaccine by October first.

Many people, even those who have gotten the vaccine already, are opposed to such government mandates. Some nurses even saying they feel like they've gone from last year's heroes to this year's villains.

Yesterday, Joe Biden announced plans to cut funding to nursing homes all around the United States who don't have all their staff members fully vaccinated.
