Maine’s Minimum Wage May Go From $7.50 to $8.50 an Hour
Maine legislators are discussing bumping the minimum wage up from $7.50 an hour to $8.50 an hour. If the bill passes, the dollar increase or raise would go in effect on October 1, 2013 and would adjust starting in October 2014 for inflation and other living increases.
Maybe I should be happy I make above minimum wage, but I must say a raise for those making minimum wage is really a pay cut for me unless my employer just bumps my salary a dollar an hour to compensate. How do you feel about a minimum wage increase? I feel for those making under $10 an hour and happy they're getting an increase but the increase may not solve any poverty issues if it could just increase the prices on goods and services.
