Man Killed in Gardiner Saturday After Being Rear-Ended
According to a press release from Maine Department of Public Safety Spokeswoman, Shannon Moss, a man is dead after the BMW he was driving on Interstate 95 in Gardiner Saturday morning was rear-ended by another vehicle.
Moss said the driver of a BWM was rear-ended by another vehicle near mile marker 104 of the Maine Turnpike. As a result of the crash, the driver, who remains unidentified, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The other person in the BMW, a female passenger, was injured and promptly taken to the hospital with what are only being described as non-life-threatening injuries.
At this time the crash remains under investigation, though traffic has reopened as normal and is once again flowing properly.
Shortly after the crash had happened we received messages from listeners indicating that traffic had been at a stand-still in Gardiner for more than 40 minutes. We now know that this is why.
Since the crash remains under investigation, no names have been released to the public. We don't know the identity of the man killed, his females passenger, or who was operating the vehicle that rear-ended them.
We also don't know the circumstances that led to the collision, but we expect to within the coming days.

The press release went on to say;
On Saturday, September 24, 2022, Maine State Police responded to a fatal crash at MM 104 in West Gardiner at approximately 11:51 am. The initial investigation shows the fatal crash was a secondary crash caused by traffic slowing in the area. The driver of a BMW sedan was traveling on the Turnpike when he was rear-ended, pinning his vehicle between two others. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene, his female passenger was transported to a local hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The investigation will continue throughout the weekend. Names of those involved will not be released at this time so the family of the deceased can be notified.
The initial crash which caused traffic to slow traffic involved several cars with multiple people taken to the hospital. The crashes remain under investigation.
As of 1:48 pm, all roads were open and traffic is now flowing normally.
