Ya know, I'm kind of noticing a trend here, and it's a little bit disturbing. This is now the second time in two weeks that I've had to write an article about how I've managed to injure myself doing something less than exciting.

A couple of weeks I told you how I hurt my wrist swinging a wiffle ball bat to hard at a 1st grade ball game. And now, just a couple short weeks later, I'm here to tell you how I threw my back out making Jell-O shots.

It sounds so stupid when I say it out loud but, alas, it is completely true. You see, we're getting ready to leave for the weekend to go camping with family and friends down in Standish, Maine.

And because it's a long holiday weekend, I told everyone that I would make some shots for the trip. After a trip to Damon's Beverage, I went home and started making my Jell-O. Here's the thing to remember- you never know how many shots you'll end up with when doing this. You just go until you either run out of Jell-O or booze.

I made wayyy more shots than I thought I would... Maybe that was part of the problem.

I ended up having enough to make 147 shots. Yes, that's a crazy number and way more than I anticipated, but I'm not a quitter. After I finished making my festive shooters, I ran to the store for a couple more things for the trip.

After I got home from the store I noticed my back was really starting to hurt. In fact it was so bad that when I would turn a certain way it would literally take my breath away. I was wracking my brain trying to figure out what I had done to cause such an injury.

Finally it hit me- I had been leaning on my right elbow on the kitchen island while I was carefully pouring each one of my shots with my left arm up in the air. I went back out to the kitchen to recreate this motion and see if it brought me immense pain. Surely, it did.

I ended up popping a couple Ibuprofen and some Tylenol and going right to bed. It hurt to exist. However, I'm happy to report that as of this morning I am feeling much better. It still hurts like a b*tch, but at least it's not taking my breath away.

I think I need a Jell-O shot.

Happy 4th everyone!
