Help! I’m Flying in 5 Days & I’m Having a Sciatica Flare-Up
Hi friends, Matt James here. If you've made it this far into my rant that means you either care about me or you're bored at work. Either way, thanks for sticking around to hear me lament about the current situation I've found myself in.
I'm no stranger to the shooting and sharp pains of sciatica. Even though I've only dealt with it a handful of times in my adult life, it's one of those pains that as soon as you feel the first lightening bolt, you know exactly what it is.

For a lot of people, sciatica can come and go in various parts of the lower back to your feet. For me, this is the lowest the pain has ever stretched. It's a shooting-type pain that goes from my right buncheek down the back of my leg, through my calf and into the top of my foot.
I had a little trouble sleeping last night but it wasn't awful, however, as soon as I got into my truck to drive to work this morning it became borderline unbearable. Stretching my right leg out to press the gas pedal was brutal.

It was so brutal that I had to set cruise control and tuck my heels as far back as possible just to alleviate the pain. To make matters worse, we're leaving on vacation Friday and I have a 3.5 hour flight from Boston to Miami.
This means I have a car ride to Mass followed by an hours-long flight. All of which I will be sitting through. My question to you all is what do you do that helps your sciatica the most?
Anti-inflammatory meds, stretching, alternating hot and cold, all of the above? Help a guy out would you?! Send me a message through the station app.
