The Perfect Memorial Day Weekend Motorcycle Day Trip in Maine
There are few things in life better than firing up the Harley on a long weekend, especially when the destination involves the Maine coast, lunch, and a cold seaside cocktail.
For me, the perfect Memorial Day weekend motorcycle day trip starts with the rumble of my Wicked Red Harley Street Glide, a full tank of gas, and absolutely no desire to rush anywhere. That’s the beauty of a good Maine ride. The destination matters, but the roads getting there are half the fun.
And for a Memorial Day weekend ride, Boothbay Harbor is tough to beat.
It gives you everything you want out of a coastal Maine day trip: winding roads, ocean air, boats in the harbor, little shops, people out walking around, and that unmistakable feeling that summer is finally kicking the door open.
The ride itself is the reset button. You can head down through the Midcoast, take your time, roll through the small towns, and let the bike do what bikes do best: make everything else disappear for a while. No emails. No errands. No doom-scrolling. Just the road, the engine, and that perfect mix of sunshine and salt air.
Once you get into Boothbay Harbor, the move is lunch at Brady’s. It’s right on Union Street, it’s open year-round, and it has that easygoing Boothbay vibe with seafood, comfort food, drinks, and a full bar. Basically, exactly what you want after a ride to the coast. Brady’s official site lists it at 25 Union Street in Boothbay Harbor.
Grab lunch, order something cold, look out toward the water, and remind yourself that this is why we put up with Maine winters.
Just maybe make the seaside cocktails the “we’re parked for a while” part of the trip, not the “we’re hopping right back on the Harley” part. Because nothing ruins a perfect ride faster than making a dumb decision after lunch.
Boothbay Harbor is one of those places that feels like a reward at the end of a good ride. It’s close enough to make sense for a day trip, but far enough to feel like you actually went somewhere.
And if Memorial Day weekend is the unofficial start of summer, I can’t think of a better way to start it than on two wheels, pointed toward the ocean.
