Several Arrested in Alleged Maine Drug Trafficking Operation
Over the last couple of decades, the work it takes to keep drugs off the streets of Maine has likely tripled.
It's no secret that the drug epidemic has reached a fever pitch, not just here in Maine, but all around the country. And now, local police departments, drug enforcement agencies, sheriff's offices and state police units are working overtime to try and curb the drugs that have flooded our towns.
According to an article published by WGME 13, three Maine residents are in custody on drug-related charges following a bust that happened last Tuesday in Northern Maine.
The news station is reporting that police in Millinocket, Maine, spotted a woman sitting in a vehicle in a driveway. Police say they knew the woman and also knew she had an outstanding warrant.
Police made contact with the woman, Lisa Lamson, 47 of East Millinocket. She allegedly told police that she was in the driveway waiting for a friend to come out. Police then had probable cause to enter the home and conduct a search.
Police entered the home and found Allyson Porter, 33 of Millinocket, hiding in a bedroom with a man. That man turned out to be Jamie Vandergraaf of Augusta, Maine. Police report that the paid were attempting to hide drug-related paraphernalia.
WGME is reporting that police then searched the home and discovered more than 30 grams of suspected fentanyl, two grams of methamphetamine, a loaded handgun, and other items that are apparently consistent with drug trafficking.
All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
