One of Maine's fastest-growing cities, Westbrook, continues to see new businesses popping up. If you've traveled through the city recently, you've seen the significant construction work being done on the vertical greenhouse and parking garage. But there's also some other interesting projects being worked on, including a new beer and wine bar right in the center of downtown.

Shared on Facebook by Full Court Press, It's going to be called Westbrook On Tap, and will be an extension of the Westbrook House of Pizza. The idea behind the bar is to give people a place to hang out and enjoy card and board games as well as a pool table, foosball table, and dart boards. They'll also be serving up local craft beer as well as wine.

Westbrook On Tap will take over the space that previously housed Quill Book and Beverage. Quill had found a niche as a book bar where people could visit to grab a new book while also sipping on a beverage and snacking on one of their homemade pastries. The pandemic crushed Quill, however, and the business never recovered.

Westbrook On Tap will join a few other food and entertainment options that have recently opened in Westbrook. That includes Paper City Barbecue, Tacos La Poblanita, Richie Ribeye, and the Meow Lounge, Maine's first cat cafe. There's also been a lot of new development at Rock Row, with more to come.

Westbrook On Tap plans to open officially on Wednesday, August 16.
