A New Hampshire man wanted on charges of 1st-degree assault of a child was arrested by Maine officials over the weekend.

Maine State Police spokeswoman Shannon Moss shared a press release from the Nashua Police Department that indicated that 25-year-old Jose Gurley has been sought on a felony warrant following an incident that occurred on January 19, 2024.

She noted that the Maine State Police worked with the Nashua Police Department on this particular case.

According to the press release, first responders were called to a residence in Nashua, New Hampshire, for reports of a medical emergency, but when they arrived, they found a 4-year-old boy who had suffered serious trauma to the head and face.

The Nashua Police Department said that detectives who were assigned to the case determined that Gurley was the likely suspect of the assault that had taken place and had fled from New Hampshire for Maine.

The Nashua detectives worked closely with officials from the Maine State Police and figured out that Gurley was associated with a residence in the town of Cornish, Maine, according to the police press release.
