Portland, Maine has a new addition to its food scene that is already worth talking about. Wow India opened in late November and is bringing authentic Indian flavors to 649 Congress Street in the Arts District. The restaurant feels stylish and welcoming making it a great spot for both casual meals and special nights out.

Wow India is owned by Prakash Jayavelu Singh and the kitchen is led by chef Pardeep Prasana. Singh began his career in India and later spent nearly ten years cooking at Tulsi in Kittery where he and Prasana first worked together.

Their experience and shared vision are clear in the food which focuses on authentic recipes prepared with fresh ingredients and traditional spices.

The menu offers a wide variety of options including traditional favorites and a few creative dishes that blend different culinary influences. One standout is a mussels dish prepared in a cilantro kokum coconut broth which highlights the kitchen’s thoughtful approach to flavor.

Another standout dish is their Chicken Tikka Masala and who does not love this iconic Indian favorite. It is rich comforting and impossible not to crave and honestly I am drooling just thinking about it. Do you like yours really spicy?

The BBQ Soy Tenders are also crafted to surprise your palate and tell a story of culture creativity and culinary passion.
