A woman has been rescued and a suspect killed according to a press release from the Maine State Police on Tuesday.

Shannon Moss, Spokeswoman for the Maine Department of Public Safety, says that officers responded to a residence on Curtis Cove Road in Blue Hill Maine at about 2:30 in the morning on Tuesday.

Police from the Maine State Police and Hancock County Sheriff's Office responded to the residence after receiving reports of a domestic disturbance that involved a woman being held against her will by a man with firearms.

Shannon Moss goes on to say that the Maine State Police Tactical Team as well as their Crisis Negotiation Team responded to the scene to provide assistance.

As the situation unfolded, there was an armed confrontation between the suspect and police and , as a result, the suspect was shot and killed by multiple officers on the scene. Peter Pfister, 27 of Blue Hill, was the suspect that was killed on scene.

Police say that the female victim that was being held against her will during the confrontation, was taken to a nearby hospital with what are being described as non-life-threatening injuries.

The three officers involved in the shooting have been placed on paid administrative leave, as is standard operating procedure in any officer-involved shooting. Those officers are Detective Scott Duff and Corporal Caleb McGary of the Maine State Police and Hancock County Sheriff's Deputy, Dylan Hall.

Moss reports that the incident is now being investigated by the Maine Attorney General's Office.
