In the ever continuing discussion of the return to ferry service from Maine to Nova Scotia there is this to report. Quest Navigation, INC., a Maine company says they’re ready to lease a ship built to cross the English Channel for 165 Million dollars. They say if they’re awarded the contract they can start service from Portland, ME to Yarmouth, NS this summer. Quest Navigation is up against, Maritime Applied Physics Corp. a Baltimore outfit.

The Province of Nova Scotia will take offers from Quest Navigation, INC from Eliot and Maritime Applied Physics Corp. If one of the two wins everything moves forward, if Nova Scotia likes neither, back to the drawing board.

The boat Quest Navigation, INC will lease is a newer cruise ferry named the Nova Star, built in Singapore, has162 cabins, two restaurants and can hold 1,215 passengers.
