After Major League Baseball decided they were going to attempt to have a 2020 season, Mainers crossed their fingers for the return of Minor League Baseball and our beloved Portland Sea Dogs.

Unfortunately, it looks like we will have to wait another year.

A statement was released by the Portland Sea Dogs that Minor League Baseball was officially cancelling the 2020 season because of the global pandemic.

It's not entirely surprising, but it's still leaving a huge hole in the hearts of Maine baseball fans.

Their statement went on to say that those with tickets can either hold onto them for next year or mail the tickets in for a refund.

While we'll miss our afternoons and evenings at Hadlock Field, patiently waiting for the foghorn and lighthouse to pop up for a home run, we wish Slugger, the players, and the crew the best and we look forward to seeing everyone in 2021.
