Following the tragic death of a Central Maine boy battling cancer, a beautiful foundation was born in his honor. And now, we all have the chance to give back to Maine families need.

According to their website,

Rowen was a happy and healthy 4 year old little boy until he was suddenly diagnosed with Medulloblastoma in June 2024. Our family began treatment at Boston Children’s Hospital as this was our best shot at remission and the closest proton beam center.

As a large family of seven, we struggled to find housing — spending over 12 weeks in a hotel due to waitlists and state occupancy limits. The financial and emotional toll was overwhelming as we tried to focus on Rowen’s treatment. We even sold our home in Maine to stay afloat.

Despite it all, Rowen faced every challenge with a smile. He completed six weeks of proton radiation and five cycles of chemotherapy with strength and courage beyond his years. In March 2025, Rowen passed away unexpectedly from complications related to treatment.

Out of our heartbreak, Rowen’s Legacy was born a nonprofit created to help other families facing childhood cancer.

Childhood cancer remains the leading cause of death by disease in children, yet less than 4% of federal cancer research funding is allocated to it. Families often find themselves overwhelmed not only emotionally but also financially while caring for their children through countless hospital stays, treatments, and travel.

Rowen’s Legacy works to ease some of these burdens by providing direct financial assistance, care packages, and ongoing advocacy. We would be truly grateful if you would consider sharing our story again, this time to highlight Rowen's Legacy and the urgent need for greater awareness and support.

By amplifying these stories, you help shine a light on the reality of childhood cancer and the nonprofits working tirelessly to keep families afloat during their darkest days.
