Hallowell’s Declaration of Independence copy, appraised at $1.2 million, will be displayed at weekend events at City Hall.

Printed in the days after the declaration's adoption, the 1776 document will be guarded by police and locked in a safe overnight.

This is the first time in more than 20 years that it will be displayed. You can see it between 10 am and 2 pm, both Friday, July 3 and on Saturday, Independence Day.
