
Driver Crashes Into 3 Police Cruisers in South Portland, Maine
A suspect is in custody following a dangerous and unusual incident that involved multiple police cruisers in South Portland over the weekend.
According to police, officers were called to the area of Maine Mall Road after receiving reports of a driver behaving erratically and showing signs of concerning behavior. Witnesses say the vehicle was operating unpredictably, raising safety concerns for others on the road.
When officers located the vehicle and attempted to initiate a traffic stop, police say the driver refused to pull over. What followed was a tense situation that quickly escalated.
According to WGME, authorities report that during the encounter, the suspect struck three separate police cruisers. Details about how the collisions occurred have not yet been fully released, but the damage prompted a significant police response in the area.
The incident came to an end in a nearby parking lot, where the driver finally stopped. Officers were then able to take the suspect into custody without further incident.
Police say no serious injuries have been reported at this time. However, it is still unclear whether any officers involved sustained minor injuries during the crashes, the news station reported.
