We are really lucky to live in a state that has so many natural, and man made, wonders.  We've got rugged coastline, sandy beaches, hills, forests, mountains, rustic seaside restaurants, upscale world class restaurants, and more.

Given all that Maine has to offer, it is no surprise that a lot of people find the state to be an incredibly romantic place.  For example, think about the number of wedding proposals that happen at the Portland Head Light alone.  There IS a reason it is the most photographed lighthouse in the world.

Believe it or not, the Portland Head Light is not considered the most romantic spot in the state.

So, what is?

Cheapism put together a list of the most romantic spots in each state.  According to their list, the most romantic spot in the State of Maine is Cadillac Mountain.

Located inside Mount Desert Island's Acadia National Park, the mountain is the highest point on the Atlantic Ocean coastline.  Rising 1,527 feet above sea level, the mountain used to be called Green Mountain.  In 1918, the name was changed to honor French explorer Antoine de La Mothe Cadillac.

As it is one of the best places in North America to see the first rays of sun, it is a great place to catch a sunrise.  The Cheapism article says:

The highest point on the North Atlantic seaboard, the mountain's summit is easy to reach via paved roads from charming Bar Harbor below.

If you and your special someone are not big fans of getting up early, it is a great place to see the sun set, as well.

What about elsewhere in New England?  The list has New Hampshire's most romantic place as Ice Castles.  They list the Boston Public Garden has the most romantic spot in Massachusetts, and they have Vermont's most romantic place as the Hildene Estate.
