The Oldest Home For Sale In Maine Offers Stunning Water Views

If you are one of those people who keeps an eye on real estate websites, you know that every once in a while you stumble across home for sale that predates 1800.  Sometimes these homes even date back to the time of the Revolutionary War.  However, I don't think we have ever seen a home that is this old!

According to Realtor, there is a building for sale in the seaside town of Boothbay Harbor that was built in 1700!  yes, it is over 320 years old!

Located at 27 Townsend Ave, the building encompasses nearly 5,000 square feet of usable space.

The ground floor of the building is taken up by a retails space that is currently home to a clothing boutique.  On the second floor there is a kitchen, dining room, living room, and a sun room.  The second floor also has a deck that offers views of the harbor and the foot bridge that crosses the harbor.  On the third floor there are four bedrooms and a full bathroom.

One thing you need to keep in mind is that, as it was built in the early 1700s, all of the rooms are VERY small.  Just take a look at the pictures to see what we mean.

As of June 2022, the list price is just below $1,000,000.  Assuming you put $250,000 down at closing, your monthly payment would be just under $5,000.  This would include mortgage (principal and interest), taxes, and home ownership insurance.  Of course, if you rented out the retail space, it would at least partially take care of your mortgage payment.
