The Sukee Arena To Remain Closed This Season

Unfortunately, the Sukee Arena And Event Center in Winslow will not be opening this winter.

According to the KJ, the arena will remain closed this winter due to equipment issues.

Sukee Arena manager Annette Marin says there are problems with the refrigeration system are, at this time, too costly to fix.  The problem with the system was discovered last month.

Not having access to the arena, which first opened in 1985, will cause issues with local hockey teams (from youth to high school).  The Camden National Bank Ice Vault has stepped in to help.  Along with the Ice Vault, Colby and Kents Hill are making their facilities available to displaced teams.

As a relative newcomer to Central Maine it is great to see people (and organizations) step up when help is needed.
