We can all think of stereotypes that we associate with different parts of the Granite State.

The towns up north and closer to Canada are in what we might call the "boonies". We might assume that these places have more moose and bobcats than people, several buildings in need of TLC, and little to no cell service or stores nearby.

When thinking of the state's central region, you're probably reminded of scenic locations like Lake Winnipesaukee, the White Mountains, the Kancamagus Highway, and various ski resorts.

The southern part of our state is home to larger cities like Concord, Manchester, and Nashua. Then there's our beloved Seacoast, known for its rich history, popular beaches, and close proximity to both Maine and Massachusetts. But out of all these areas, which towns are the least populated?

After looking at the 2020 census, we found the 20 least populated towns in all of New Hampshire. A few of these places have less than hundred people, and one is a literal ghost town with just two residents.

Could you imagine living in a town with one other person? Talk about awkward town meetings.

So, let's explore and see where these towns are. How many have you been to? Is one of them yours?

A quick note: these findings are from the 2020 census, and only communities classified as towns have been included.
