This is One of the Most Dangerous Roads According to Brunswick, Maine, Police
The amazing thing about Maine, unlike a lot of other states, is a good chunk of it is one of the most enjoyable driving experiences ever.
If you're in the Acadia area, you have beautiful mountain views to drive along, take in, and enjoy. Especially around this time of year, when foliage season is kicking in and the colors are just unreal.
And, of course, driving along the Coastal areas of Maine, especially during summertime but really, anytime, is truly unmatched.
Unfortunately, though, regardless of the beauty you can take in when you drive, there are also some dangerous roads you encounter no matter where you are, and the Brunswick, Maine, Police Department has just named one of the most dangerous to travel on.
Spoiler: It's actually not the Maine Turnpike (at least, that Brunswick PD was talking about.)
Brunswick, Maine, Dangerous Road
Shortly after giving residents a reminder that they shouldn't really ever need -- to lock their vehicles and not leave valuables inside -- Brunswick, Maine, Police brought attention to Pleasant Street/Route 1, one of the main roads in town, as one of the more dangerous.
And whether you're a resident or not, if you've ever driven this stretch of road in Brunswick, which is loaded with car dealerships, restaurants, and most importantly, stoplights, you can agree that it can be a bit dangerous.
Because with all of those stoplights comes a lot of stop-and-go traffic. Which spells trouble for those drivers who are distracted by either passengers in the car, or worse, texting.
For the record, while the stoplight sections of Pleasant Street can be dangerous, possibly the worst stretch of that road is, ironically, in front of the Brunswick Police Station at the intersection of Pleasant Street and Stanwood Street, where there's a funky little median in the road.
Regardless of whether driving distracted or fully focused, taking a left off of Stanwood onto Pleasant with oncoming traffic taking a right at the same time can be horrible to navigate.
If you know, you know.
