There's a new hotel in York Beach, Maine with a surfing theme that will transport you back to the 1960s when dropping into the wave and hanging ten was all the rage.

According to Maine Biz, the former York Harbor Motel on York Street was bought in 2020 and renovated into a surfing theme called "The York Beach Surf Club."  The son of the man who created the original York Beach Surf Club in the 1960s decided to resurrect the name and turn the former motel into a modern hotel and resort which opened in 2022.

The former motel has been completely transformed and modernized, but it still has that feeling of being in a different time with surfboards all around the resort.

Grab your board and catch a wave or just relax on the beach and enjoy the sun. But if the ocean water isn't your thing, there's an outdoor pool with lounge chairs, umbrellas, and a large bar serving up tasty adult beverages.

They even have movie nights outside by the ocean. It's like the drive-in but instead, you bring blankets, towels, and lawn chairs.
