In 1978-Robert Pattinson was born! You either know him as Cedric, the Hufflepuff who met an untimely end, or Edward Cullen, everyone's favorite vampire from the Twilight series. He turns 33 today.

In 1993-A masked gunman in the suburbs of Paris, who also had dynamite, held a roomful of nursery kids and their teacher hostage for two days demanding $18.5M. The teacher kept the kids calm by telling them it was a game and the man had a gun because he was hunting a wolf. The situation lasted two days and no children were harmed. The masked man was shot by police.

In 1993 in music history-Bette Midler, Barry Manilow, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers joined forces and helped save Krusty The Clown's Show in an episode of "The Simpsons."
