I know it pales in comparison to 9-11, but today is the 20-year anniversary of the World Trade Center bombings, which killed six and injured over 1000. I was living in Saint John taking broadcasting at the time and I remember seeing the pictures from CNN and the whole thing unfold in real time.

It was one of the first real-time news stories I remember where a station broadcast went wall-to-wall and included special sounders. As shocking as the bombing in 1993 was, it paled in comparison to what was to happen a little over eight years later, when we all watched in horror as those same buildings crumbled.

Today, let's remember how challenging first responders' jobs are and how hard our troops work to keep us safe.
